Before we begin discussing the treatment, we will ask the following questions:

• Do you have a pacemaker or a cochlear implant?
• This is a contraindication, so if the patient has a pacemaker or a cochlear implant, they are not eligible for treatment!

What is MacuMira Treatment:

• This is a series of non-invasive, pain free treatments which each last 32minutes
• The treatment uses a safe and effective low level microcurrent technology
• This helps improve function of key photoreceptor cells in the retina at the back of the eye (the macula)

Treatment protocol:

• Loading Phase: 4 treatments in the first 10 days
• Maintenance: 1 maintenance treatment approximately every 2 ½ – 3 months, going forward

What to expect:
Almost all patients see improvements in vision, contrast, or both (initial results are typically seen within 10 days).

In clinic:

• We will start with an initial visual acuity check, and images of your retina
• We will check your vision between treatments over the 10 days to monitor your improvements
• And then we will schedule you for maintenance treatment every 2 ½ – 3 months

At home:

• Look for improvements in ease of daily visual tasks
• Examples include:
  – reading, watching TV, using your computer and cell phone
  – seeing faces and family photos
  – hair, make-up, shaving
  – walking, completing tasks within and outside the home
